Moon rise over Half Dome
I was in Yosemite several years ago, just one of my many visits to this iconic valley. An early spring snowstorm had covered the higher elevations with a blanket of snow. Thinking the possibilities of making some good images following the storm were favorable, I set off early in the morning from my home in the Sierra foothills and headed for Yosemite Valley. My intuition proved justified when I saw the moon beginning to rise over the crest of Half Dome.
The late afternoon light was beginning to fade as I evaluated how best to capture the image I wanted. It was too late to take the photo. But I knew the moon would rise just a little earlier the next day and be just a little fuller. I came back the next day, set up my camera, and waited for the moon to rise. My patience in waiting another day to capture the image was rewarded with this stunningly beautiful photo.
