Dunes, Death Valley,  Black and White Print  9×16 inches

I have been to Death Valley many times over the years hiking the trails, taking in the vast vistas and photographing different parts of this amazing National Park.  This image of the Dunes near Stove Pipe Wells is my favorite.  The sinuous curve of the dark shadow contrasting with the white sand suggests a wave of motion moving across the desert landscape.  I captured this image just as the first light was breaking over the dunes creating deep shadows and textures within the sand ripples.
